Meow Mix!!

Meow!!! Every piece of Jason Wu's latest
collection is on HIT!! Photo Courtesy: Vogue.com
There are two types of leopard lovers out there -- the wearing type and the staring type.  And depending on the circumstances, Girleecat is definitely a leopard wearer first, and when she is admiring someone else's leopard loveliness and/or when she can't afford something lovely and leopard, she's a leopard starer. That being said, for all practical purposes today I'm a starer and by staring, I really mean simultaneously ogling, drooling and plotting to somehow rob the weed dispensary next door of its profits save up enough money for at least the fantastically orgasmic Jason Wu leopard semi-booties (shown above with the wondrous double-ridged platform in the front), and the equally as dope two-tone doctor's bag. Of course the entire set is ahhhmaaaziinnggg, but as long as I get my claws on the shoes and the bag, order should be restored to my jungle (read: closet).
So, today I take ye' on a safari of hautness below, plus a hair raising treat at the end!! ;-)
SO HAUTE!!!! These python, leopard print peep toes by our
lover Christian Louboutin aren't necessarily a new release,
but I jock them and still can't afford them all the same.

Oh Chanel, is there nothing better than when you bring
us leopard evening bags?? Nope, there really isn't.

It's baaaack!!! You might remember this Ferragamo clit tease tote
from the BH Fashion post below, but I'm still jockin' it harder
than Jesse James jocks skanks with forehead tattoos!!

Ok, the pic isn't quite doing these babies justice, but the sunglasses
are diamond, leopard and f*cking fabulous!! Designed by Lugano
Diamonds for Barton Perriera , the frame is inlaid with 3.59 carat
fancy intense yellow and black diamonds.
And last but not least are a pair of pumps that are not leopard and not quite my style, but they are so damn fierce they definitely deserve honorary mention in this post. Check 'em!!!
Known on the runway as "Mohawk Heels," I like to call these
goat hair & suede-clad babies by YSL my, "Heels I would
wear if I were going as a zebra this Halloween, but I'm not, so nevermind."

The Social Network: Revenge of the Nerd

Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder
Mark Zuckerberg in the 'Social Network.'

So I checked out The Social Network the other night (AKA, "Facebook was my idea"!! "No it was mine"!! "No, MINE"!!!, etc., etc.), and I have to say it was good stuff!!! Not just because it's about how this social obsession we all seem to share came to be, but mostly because like "Titanic," it's a story you pretty much know the start, middle and end to, but it makes you feel like you have no clue what's coming next.  Oh yeah, and it manages to give a little glory (however beleaguered) to the real Internet Superstars that have cropped up in the last decade or so (and no, I'm not talking about that Leave Britney Alone!! kid -- thankfully, he had nothing to do with this film).
For those who don't already know and the rest of us who do, The Social Network chronicles the story of how Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook (then called, "thefacebook.com") as a sophomore at Harvard University, and the classmates who claimed FB was originally their idea. As to be expected, there's oodles of legal messyness and verbal bitchslapping going on all throughout, but it's so intelligently done I felt it drove the film, which was the best way (screenwriter) Aaron Sorkin could have done it.
And as for those aforementioned Internet Superstars, all the major players are present: there's Zuckerberg reppin' FB (played by Jesse Eisenberg), the ever-smarmy Sean Parker of Napster fame (played by Justin Timberlake) and there's even the obligatory (at least in a film like this) ode to Bill Gates (played by some dude who obviously isn't the real Gates, but close enough).
Knowing that Zuckerberg wanted NOTHING to do with the movie, Eisenberg's portrayal of him is that of a socially inept loner with quick wit, a sharp tongue and an even sharper business sense. As has been widely publicized  by now, the movie opens to a restaurant scene in which Zuckerberg's girlfriend dumps him, which then sends him into a flurry of Internet "strike back" tactics that eventually lead him to the idea for FB. Whether this is how it happened or not, it completely mirrors (poetically so) what social networks provide: a platform to be heard and seen in a way that transcends the boundaries of our usual roles, "ranks" and relationships. I can't really say I was rooting for him, but there are some relatable qualities about Zuckerberg here, albeit not very redeeming ones.

JT as Sean (ewww, cooties!!!) Parker
Timberlake as Napster founder Sean Parker makes clear that Mr.-Napster-for-that-ass licks hairy rat balls, dude!!! Before this flick, I had very little knowledge about Parker beyond the TV news clips of him being dragged through the courts for simply trying to bring free music to the masses (btw, get a life Lars Ulrich of Metallica), but if the movie is to be believed, Sean Parker is a Douche Bag with a capital "D"!!!! Mad love to JT for bringing his popstar swagger to the role, though he showed us all that Parker is a coat-tail riding douche of epic proportions!!! (I dunno, maybe the crazy amount of times I've watched "D*ck in a Box" really brought out the d*ckweed in JT as Parker, lol.)
Anywho, every good story has a silver lining and for me that silver lining was Andrew Garfield, who plays Facebook co-founder and Zuckerberg's longtime friend Eduardo Saverin. As the proverbial "nice guy," Garfield nails the bleeding heart Saverin and makes us all (ok, maybe just me) want to bang him several times daily fall madly in lust with him. Check him!!!

Yum, yum, and even more YUM!! Andrew Garfield
plays Eduardo Saverin in the 'Social Network.'

Express Yourself!!!

Welcome back, Madge!! Fashion is still your home, salude!!
Greetings Glamvitians!!!
So, I hit up Fashion Night Out in Beverly Hills tonight and it's much too fabulous not to mention. What's Fashion Night out you ask? Picture every street fair/artwalk/buzzed shopping spree you've ever experienced, add some outstanding high fashion (with accompanying "Oh.Mah.GAH." price tags), mash it all up and that was the BH Fashion Night Out. Honestly, if they did this every Friday night, you betcha pave cufflinks your girl would be there with stilettos on and a rapidly depleting bank account because it was just that HAUTE!! Before we get to the vintage trunk loads of amazing new fashion I was quietly orgasming over under my skirt, tonight also marked the return of one of my favorite entertainers as the face of Dolce & Gabbana: Madonna! Woop-woop!! Still love those eyebrows of hers, might I add.
Anywho, on to the gyst... Also among the fabulosity of all the fashion, I found a new magazine that makes my luxury meter flip to its highest setting (and that's pretty high)! The magazine is called Beverly Hills Lifestyle and it's a TON like Beverly Hills Report, just newer and not extinct. Check the cover (much like BHR with the gold foil on the cover & all, just sayin...)

Next: The shoes. Yes, there was no shortage of gorgeous shoes debuting tonight, but these babies by Roberto Cavalli stood out to me as the shoes I'd walk all over your man with if he tried to step. Strappy, black with chain detail? Yup-yup, yon shoes have got it goin ON!!!

Compounding the fashion show on ecstasy vibe goin on in Beverly Hills tonight was the presence of (the wondiferously trim) Kelly Osbourne, check it:
K, kinda fuzzy, but you get the picture...literally, lol.

Last but not least: The bag is by Salvatore Ferragamo, it's calfskin, leopard AND it has tons of pockets!!! Nothing short of true L.O.V.E.
Yeah, it came in super small, but it's my baby,
and it shall be MINE, muahahahaha!!!!

And another one!!

K, well they say when it rains it pours, so here I am showerin' some more post love on that *ss!! I just got a link from one of my mentors, Heidi D., from Rancho Los Amigos hospital in Downey where I'm doing my observership in Occupational Therapy. (Shhh!!!! Keep it on the low lest the meanies at EDD find out and pull the plug on your girl for doing something worthwhile during her week.)
Anywho, this here is a link to an article in the Press Telegram covering the annual Midnight in Milan fashion show put on by the OT dept at Rancho. As you can see from the link, it's a pretty fun thing for our patients to participate in, and I'm proud to say I had a little part in helping this year's show!!  Woot-woot!!!
The guy pictured above is Yancy Miller. He may look tame with his walker and Brian Setzer attire, but he's a total bad*ss who's come really far in his recovery, so big PROPS to him!!! In fact, yesterday he gave me and some other ladies in our dept. a joy ride in his simulated car, during which we helped him flip the bird to other computerized motorists, and ultimately crashed into a delivery truck on the e-version of highway 101 while en route to a virtual wine tasting trip. Scandalous!!!! ;-D

And if you don't know, now you know!!

Yo Homebizzles!!

Sometimes I like Glamvita to simply be a place where I give props to the things I find entertaining. So, on to what I think we should all be watching...it's a little web program called C'mon Son!!! It's been around for a minute, so I'm not expecting this to be news to anyone, but for those who have not yet succumb to its wiley clutches, let me intro it a little. C'mon Son is a celeb commentary program hosted by the one and only Ed Lover of Yo! MTV Raps fame. It's like Tosh.0, but better. Some might say it has more of an urban edge than Tosh.0, but we like that here at Glamvita. It keeps it all butta, baby-bubba!!
So without further adieu, I present to you a couple of C'mon Son clips. The first one is from earlier this year and is one of my personal faves, and the second is the latest C'mon Son, which covers such splediferous topics as the Mel Gibson tapes and Let-down LeBron...Enjoy!!!

Welcome to the Good Life!!

Venus Dj, oil on canvas on display at LA Artwalk, March 2010.
Allo Lovelies!!

Once again it's been a looong cold minute since I've posted, so I guess a little update action is in order. Contrary to popular belief, my lagging on posts has not been due to the new seasons of  LOST & 90210 coming back, and/or the possibility that I might have finally checked myself into a shopping addiction facility (lies, all lies!!). As some of you may recall from my last post, I have decided to go to gradschool. And as part of that decision, I've needed to take some prerequisite courses, which have been super interesting as well as super time consuming. Actually, scratch that - psychology has been super interesting and statistics has been, well let's just say, "time consuming," and move on. Good news is that I'm holding up great in both, but the bad news is that I've had little time for my usual online Tom foolery that often results in Glam Vita blog posts.

While I was away ya best believe I was living it up Girleecat style -- MEOW!! First, from late Jan. to early March, I was pimp slappin LA, SF and OC with my girl Elle Aye who is a key partner in exploits!!! Our debauchery included many fun activities, including (but not limited to;): Mos Def @ Keyclub, cheering the Lakers to victory @ Staples, being asked to strut my stuff on stage at the House of Blues (hollywood), mani/pedis galore, good times in the LA arts scene, obscene amounts of shopping, an artsy photoshoot around LA taken by Elle starring Moi, racking up a frightening amount of stalkers, and much more!! For photo documentation of some of the mayhem PG style, please click  here, here and here. (Btw, that last link was to the photo shoot we lovingly named Vivrant Thing, which I'm going to post again on this blog.)

Oh, and for those who don't already know, I just got back from a 10-day trip to India, which included tons-oh-meditation, yoga, hangin with family, shopping (of course), and meeting cool new people. It was a trip of a lifetime and I have some pix of India to post, which will also be featured in a separate post either here or on C.O.P. (another, much bigger blog I contribute to once in a looong while).

Anywho, now that we're all caught up, I'll leave you with a little ditty I like to call, Dr. Obama stunts an already stunted economy in the name of healthcare reform! As many of you already must know, Obeezy brought forth more of that change of his earlier this month when he put the smackdown on the US healthcare debacle system and flipped the script a bit. For those not really sure of what it all might mean, here's a helpful article that sums up the pro's and con's of it all. While many of the changes have been  taken as positive, some others are going to financially destroy the way many healthcare professionals are compensated. Not to mention, people like yours truly will be forced to get insurance, which is a good thing as a whole, but it also means inadvertantly picking up the slack to pay for those dumbf*cks out there who have made themselve unhealthy from years of smoking, abusing drugs and/or overconsumption of chili cheese fries. This last fact lies in direct opposition with some of my current views, namely my belief that my moolah should not go to helping  the likes of skankbags like good ol' Lilo stay upright long enough to continue to have spitting fights with Sam Ronsen...yay... ;-/

Let the Good Times Roll in 2010!!

Yowsa! It's been waaayy too damn long since I last posted here! How are my GlamVitians??? (All 11 of you, lol.) I know, I know, I took a super long break from this blog because well, I just had a lot of shizz goin on, so there. My (non) apologies outta the way - HAPPY BLEEPIN NEW YEAR to you all!! I know that comes a li'l late, but it's actually really good we're a few weeks in to 2010, since this way I can start dishing on what I think this year has been about so far and what, I'm guessing, it'll continue to be about.

So far, I'd have to say 2010 has been all about new beginnings. For instance, I finally did decide to go back to school (see blog posts 2 & 3 for backstory on this), so I've been shimmying my way back into college life again for the first time in, well, some time. And for those not in the know, yes, I'm going back to school for a career change from journalism to healthcare. Now, now, no need to weep darlings, I'll still be here with an open heart ready to spew more decadent verbal debauchery at you about anything I deem Glam Vita worthy, so never fear. You are not alone.

Also proving that 2010 is all about starting anew, is the whole Conan O'Brien vs. Jay Leno f*ckery that's been dominating the headlines so far this year. Dunno about you, but to me this scandal, or "Colen" as I like to call it, has been all about Conan, the magic he brings to the table and what he needs to do to keep his late night awesomeness alive, as not to get sucked dry by the corporate baddies. So, when NBC was all, "Duuhhh Conan, Jay wants the Tonight Show time slot back after he promised it to you years ago, so get in the back seat again or go play in traffic, mmkthx," it was up to Conan to keep his dignity, preserve the sanctity of his comic genius, throw Andy Richter over his shoulder a'la Brendan Frasier in Encino Man and say, "No-go, f*cktards. I best be leavin now for another network that will milk me somewhat less and appreciate me more, but not until you pricks pay me an ungodly sum of money to git gone cuz THIS IS SPARTA!!! ...Ps. bob on this, kthx."

I mean, really. Who does NBC think Conan is, Jimmy Fallon? No, my lovelies. Conan is much more than a pretty boy who wouldn't know an original punchline if it punched him right in the nads. This is why I believe that in the wake of Colen, Conan represents the spirit of 2010. It's that spirit that dictates standing up for yourself, staying true to what you're worth and letting go of toxic connections with those who take for granted what you bring to the world. This is what 2010 should be about for all of us. I know it is for me, i'nt that right kitty?

Yikes! Ok, we'll leave kitty out of it. Anywho, I'd like to close by saying God bless network television blunders for giving us all something to get self-righteous about, God bless Lady Gaga for giving me more hot sh*t to look forward to in 2010, and may peace be with us all this year and every year to come!!!
