I've Got Your 2011 Resolution Right Here!!!

Ringin' in the new year with the dope HK nail set and strawberry champagne!! Ok, maybe this isn't my hand or my bubbly,
but I certainly appreciate how this lass rolls!!!

Hello-hello dear Glamvitians, how are ye?? Super duper stoked I hope!!! So here we are, 2011!!! I can hardly believe I've made it this far. I mean, what with all of  the shopping, dancing in stilettos, eye makeup imprinted pillows, rocking out to the 80's and steady supply of french fries, ranch dressing and red wine into the ol' bod; it's surprising to fathom I've made it through without developing a bunyan with accompanying ulcer and credit card debt to match!! But no, "Not I," said the cat. I've actually fared quite well considering that life on my planet (aka, West LA) was designed to wear us into emotionally depleted, socially decrepit shells of the bountiful squirrel hearts we came into this world as. (Feel free to weep...actually don't - it was an empty gesture)...
Ok, it's a tad trashy for the likes of Glam Vita,
but I had to post this one up for everyone who
traveled over the holidays, haha!!

This is precisely why I don't believe in making New Year's resolutions and I pretty much never have. I mean, 'the f*ck for?? Yeah, sure, we can stick to the ol "no more gossiping" or "must go to the gym at least 3 times a week," or my personal fave, "stop buying Smiths records with songs I already have on them," for a good 3-6 months at first, but it never works for all 365 days of the year. NEVER. That's not to say the start of the new year isn't a good time to stick to maybe one or two big resolutions like "quit smoking" (for those slave to the nicotine) or "spend more time w/the kids," but a whole list??? C'mon Son - gtfohwdatunrealisticlistbullsh*t!!! Foreal.
So in the spirit of keepin' it real, I'm gonna do the New Year's list thing my way. (How else?!) Feast your eyes on my: "What I can't wait to shop for (or at least jock from afar) in 2011" list!!! Woot-woooot!!!!

Fashion Week is always such a tease since nothing parading down the runway is available until the next year. That's why I'm puttin these fan-friggin-tabulous peek-a-boo booties by Nicole Miller first cuz your girl has been lusting after them HARD for months!!!

Ah, halter neck, how do I love thee?! Not only are most of the 2011 lines dope beyond belief, but this year's stuff also features two things I cannot live without in my wardrobe - halter neck couture AND a decent platform at the ball of the shoes!! Love, Angel, Music, Baby!!!! Gwen Stefani's 2011 designs for L.A.M.B are killin it!!! Aside from the wicked hot strap-me-up style of the shoe, I love how the model's toe nail polish is so on point with the rest of the outfit!! (Photo Courtesy: Consumer Nation)

Work-it, beeotch!!! I'm all over this get-up from the 2011 Armani collection! Jockin it h-2-t!!!
There's no way I'm going to post on 2011 must-haves without paying special attention to the Chanel fly-as-all-f*ck boots that debuted last fall!! I mean, sure they're not for everyone, but they've got it goin on like nobody's bitnizz!!! The blue & gold ones below are so ornate they're like a Faberge Egg!!!

Gobble THIS!!!

All hail Hello Kitty-inspired art!!! It's so fun to soak in all the cool details of this painting!! MEOW!! (On display via Japan-LA Small Gift LA Art Show)

Happy Thanksgiving holiday weekend every booty!!! Hope you're all basking in in the lethargic glory of this most trytophan-tastic of American traditions!! And while this might be a time for leftovers, shopping and football for most, here at Glam Vita we like to use this time to reflect on all the stoked events that have been happening as of late!! (And by "we" I mean me and my new avatar that I had illustrated for my blog header, above - check her!) Anywho, so back to the latest happenings around G-Cat's LA!!
First up: The Hello Kitty Prom in Santa Monica -- yaaayyy!!! So this here was one of my favorite recent events cuz as some of you may know, I'm kind of an authority of Hello Kitty... Seriously, I am! Just go to Hello Kitty's Wikipedia page and scroll to the bottom to see my 2003 article about Hello Kitty for Toy Directory Magazine listed as the 3rd citation Reference source for the wikipedia page..mmhmm, I told you so! Anywho, now that you know I'm legit in the kitty arts, it's not hard to imagine that I was an invited guest (ahem!) to the prom, which was held as part of Sanrio's 50th Anniversary festival at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica last Saturday. And yes, it was every bit the pepto-bismal-pink-cartoon-kitty-freak-fest one might imagine it to be!! And amplifying the overt girlyness of it all?? That's right folks - it was an 80's themed Hello Kitty Prom, complete with an 80's cover band - hooty-hoooo!!! Here are some pix for a clear idea of what exactly goes down at a Hello Kitty 80's-themed prom:
Awesome people watching!!! I think she said her name is Raque and she was definitely in the 80's HK spirit!!
My prom pic with my date Satomi and Hello Kitty herself!! Peace, y'all!! =-)

More people watching!!

A wide array of Sanrio-inspired art!! This one was a fave because it shows how women, namely Japanese women, grow up with HK from childhood to adulthood and still consider HK the shizz for this bizz!!!
Below is another awesome piece by Ms. Kiko!!

No Hello Kitty prom night would be complete without a pink kitty chariot!! Behold Satomi behind the wheel of the HK hybrid!! =-p

Let the Good Times Roll in 2010!!

Yowsa! It's been waaayy too damn long since I last posted here! How are my GlamVitians??? (All 11 of you, lol.) I know, I know, I took a super long break from this blog because well, I just had a lot of shizz goin on, so there. My (non) apologies outta the way - HAPPY BLEEPIN NEW YEAR to you all!! I know that comes a li'l late, but it's actually really good we're a few weeks in to 2010, since this way I can start dishing on what I think this year has been about so far and what, I'm guessing, it'll continue to be about.

So far, I'd have to say 2010 has been all about new beginnings. For instance, I finally did decide to go back to school (see blog posts 2 & 3 for backstory on this), so I've been shimmying my way back into college life again for the first time in, well, some time. And for those not in the know, yes, I'm going back to school for a career change from journalism to healthcare. Now, now, no need to weep darlings, I'll still be here with an open heart ready to spew more decadent verbal debauchery at you about anything I deem Glam Vita worthy, so never fear. You are not alone.

Also proving that 2010 is all about starting anew, is the whole Conan O'Brien vs. Jay Leno f*ckery that's been dominating the headlines so far this year. Dunno about you, but to me this scandal, or "Colen" as I like to call it, has been all about Conan, the magic he brings to the table and what he needs to do to keep his late night awesomeness alive, as not to get sucked dry by the corporate baddies. So, when NBC was all, "Duuhhh Conan, Jay wants the Tonight Show time slot back after he promised it to you years ago, so get in the back seat again or go play in traffic, mmkthx," it was up to Conan to keep his dignity, preserve the sanctity of his comic genius, throw Andy Richter over his shoulder a'la Brendan Frasier in Encino Man and say, "No-go, f*cktards. I best be leavin now for another network that will milk me somewhat less and appreciate me more, but not until you pricks pay me an ungodly sum of money to git gone cuz THIS IS SPARTA!!! ...Ps. bob on this, kthx."

I mean, really. Who does NBC think Conan is, Jimmy Fallon? No, my lovelies. Conan is much more than a pretty boy who wouldn't know an original punchline if it punched him right in the nads. This is why I believe that in the wake of Colen, Conan represents the spirit of 2010. It's that spirit that dictates standing up for yourself, staying true to what you're worth and letting go of toxic connections with those who take for granted what you bring to the world. This is what 2010 should be about for all of us. I know it is for me, i'nt that right kitty?

Yikes! Ok, we'll leave kitty out of it. Anywho, I'd like to close by saying God bless network television blunders for giving us all something to get self-righteous about, God bless Lady Gaga for giving me more hot sh*t to look forward to in 2010, and may peace be with us all this year and every year to come!!!
